The Best And Worst U.S. Cities To Celebrate Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, America’s sweethearts are planning to spend an average of $146.84 pr couple to celebrate the day of love. This accumulates  to a whopping record total of $19.7 billion on Cupid, according to the personal finance website WalletHub. The website conducted an in-depth analysis of 2016's Best and Worst Cities for Valentine’s Day, in order to find out which cities are the most romantic while going easy on couples’ wallets. And while comparing the best, you also have to take the reverse approach and take a look at the WORST cities to celebrate your love.

According to WalletHub’s number crunchers, who compared the 100 most populated cities across the country using diverse criteria such as restaurant-meal costs, number of attractions compared to city size, and the number of florists per capita, these are the best and the worst for 2016.

In order to compare the best and worst, several key metrics were used including:

• The cost of a restaurant meal for two (the highest is in Miami, which is four times more expensive than in Irvine, Calif., the city with the lowest).
• The average price per movie ticket (highest is in Cleveland, which is four times more expensive than in Fremont, Calif., the city with the lowest).
• The average wine price (highest in Cleveland, five times more expensive than in Irvine, Calif., the city with the lowest).
• The number of jewelry stores per capita (Miami is the highest, 45 times more than in North Las Vegas, Nev., the lowest).
• The number of florists per capita (also the highest in Miami, which is 14 times more than in North Las Vegas, Nev., which repeats as the city with the lowest).
• The number of chocolate shops per capita (highest in Orlando, Fla., 29 times more than in Santa Ana, Calif., the city with the lowest).
• The number of restaurants per capita (the highest is in Orlando, Fla., which is 10 times more than in North Las Vegas, Nev., the lowest.)
