It is not all about watermelon. There are plenty of other activities that go along with the festival, which will take place at Jeff Davis Park on the east side of Rush Springs.

Some of the events that will go nn during the day include:

  • 5K run and 1 mile fun run / walk

Of course the Coronation of the Queen and her court will be the highlight of the day along with the free watermelon feed which will begin around 4pm and will last until all the melons are gone. It is estimated that there will be 50,000 melons served this Saturday.
Sources from Rush Springs have indicated that the weather this year has been perfect for the growing of not only watermelons but cantaloupe as well.  Many local stand have already begun selling their bumper crop leading into this weekends event.
A big thank you to Brittany Ball for bringing us a couple of the melons straight from the field for us to eat. They were delicious!
