Nikki Sixx Says Motley Crue Will Retire After One More Album + Tour

It was just a few weeks ago that Nikki Sixx sounded like he was considering the idea of having Motley Crue call it quits after another album and tour. Now it seems as though he’s made up his mind.
Sixx discussed the subject during a recent interview with the Australian site TheMusic (via Bravewords), reiterating that in the immediate future, he wants the band to “finish our movie” — an adaptation of their oral history ‘The Dirt’ — “and put out a new album.” All of which probably sounds great to fans, but once that’s out of the way, Sixx thinks it’s time to disband the Crue once and for all.
“Itâs important that when you do a farewell tour that people understand that when you put a bullet in the back of the horseâs head, and it goes down, itâs not a plastic bullet itâs a f—ing shotgun blast,” Sixx argued. “You know, blow its f—ing brains out, itâs never coming back…Itâs the only way I can look at myself in the mirror and do a farewell tour. Thatâs it. So when we take our final bow, itâs it. I will cry. I cry thinking about it.”
Continued Sixx, “So itâs very emotional and I just think itâs important that we finish what we started and then, you know, it will be whatever it will be. It could be beautiful. It could be a beautiful ending! When you go and see a great movie — Iâll leave you with this: when you go and see a great f—ing movie and it ends and you go, âF—!â like, you walk out and you go, âThat was amazing! That blew my mind!â Itâs not like, âThat blew my mind and, um, maybe thereâll be a sequel to it.’”
