You have 60 days to file a claim if you suffered flooding in the Memorial Day floods.  60 days to file a claim if you have flood insurance (which is usually NOT something that is provided in your regular homeowner's policy).  You have 60 days to get everything together to make sure your claim is honored.

Don't let it pass you by!

If you were flooded and don't have the right insurance, this might spur you to start a policy:

From 2010 to 2014 the average residential flood claim amounted to more than $39,000. In 2014, the average flood insurance policy premium was about $700 per year. Flood insurance is the best way to protect yourself from devastating financial loss. -- www.floodsmart.gov

You might already know the cost of flooding and may have learned that the hard way but there is a really cool tool that will help you figure out what it will cost you if you decide against insurance and want to roll the dice.

For example, I have a home that is over 2,000 square feet.  If there is only ONE inch of flooding in my home, it will cost me around $20,000.

Want to see how much it might cost you?
