On Oct. 14, the Lawton City Council approved a new ordinance that will prohibit all tobacco and vapor products on all city owned property and vehicles.

The Deputy City Attorney expressed concern of the approved ban as it could have legal issue in the future. He also noted that while state law allows Oklahoma cities to implement a smoking ban, they cannot completely ban tobacco use.

The tobacco ban was approved on a 5-3 decision and will go into affect on Nov. 13.
