Miles Teller Confirms Han Solo Audition, Opens Up About ‘Fantastic Four’ Failure
Miles Teller popped up in early reports regarding Lucasfilm’s shortlist for Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s young Han Solo movie, along with a handful of interesting contenders for the upcoming Star Wars spinoff. And while an actor has yet to be chosen to fill Harrison Ford’s intimidating shoes, Teller has confirmed that he did audition for the part while also acknowledging some problems on that other major franchise film he appeared in last year.
‘Kingsman 2’ to Bring Back Another Character That Isn’t Colin Firth
We’re still waiting to see how (or if) Matthew Vaughn will revive Colin Firth’s Harry Hart for his sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service, but there’s another character who definitely will be making a rather unexpected return. And given who it is and how we last saw them, it’s pretty safe to assume that this particular character won’t be an ally to Taron Egerton’s Eggsy in Kingsman 2.
‘Batman vs. Superman’ Reveals New Wonder Woman Image, Full Score Now Available
In just one week we’ll finally get to see who will win in the fight between the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel, when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters. But you don’t have to wait that long to get a new look at Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, which you can gaze upon while you listen to Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL’s complete score for Zack Snyder’s DC superhero epic.
Dan Harmon Producing ‘Bubbles’ Animated Film About Michael Jackson’s Pet Chimp
The screenplay for Bubbles topped the 2015 Black List, but unlike many of the other scripts to land on the list over the years, we won’t have to wait very long to see this one make it to the big screen. Based on Michael Jackson’s pet chimpanzee (yes, really), Bubbles is a pretty weird story, to say the least, and one that requires an equally creative team to adapt it. Enter former Community showrunner and creator Dan Harmon, who is producing a stop-motion animated film based on Bubbles.
‘Keanu’ Review: Key and Peele and a Cute Kitten Make a Mostly Funny ‘John Wick’ Riff
Take the comedic talents of Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key, add an intensely adorable kitten, the musical stylings of George Michael, and a riff on John Wick, and you get Keanu — an action comedy that is mostly enjoyable, until it stretches its premise a little too thin and falls victim to the narrative demands of a feature-length film. Perhaps fittingly enough, Key and Peele’s first film outing is at its most lively when the titular kitten is on screen. Remove the kitten from the equation and you have a film that adheres a little too closely to the action flick formula it seeks to emulate, particularly during the lengthy third act.
‘Batman vs. Superman’ Accidentally Reveals Jena Malone’s Mystery Role
Last week we learned that Jena Malone’s secret role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had been cut from the theatrical release, though her scene (which is presumably brief) will be restored for the Ultimate Edition on Blu-ray and DVD. But you won’t have to wait until that version hits shelves to find out who Malone is playing in Zack Snyder’s superhero epic, since it looks like Warner Bros. has accidentally spilled the beans.
‘Kingsman 2’ Wants Halle Berry to Run the CIA, Possibly in Two Films
Matthew Vaughn’s sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service is shaping up to be one of our most anticipated films of 2017: The director has begun assembling a pretty cool cast, with Julianne Moore as Kingsman 2's main villain opposite returning star Taron Egerton. While we wait to find out if (and how) Colin Firth will return, the film is looking to secure another great addition, with Halle Berry in talks to play a key role.
‘The Dark Tower’ Casts Newcomer Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers
One of the trickiest roles to cast in an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower is that of Jake Chambers, the young boy who meets Roland Deschain during his journey in the first novel and becomes a key figure in the gunslinger’s story — not just once, but twice. He’s an incredibly vital member of the story, but given his age (11), the length of the series, and the impossibility of keeping a kid from growing up, Jake is easily the most difficult role to fill. But director Nikolaj Arcel has done it anyway, casting a relative newcomer in the long-awaited adaptation.
‘A Hologram for the King’ Trailer: Tom Hanks Gets His Groove Back in Saudi Arabia
Like Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, A Hologram for the King also features a middle-aged white protagonist who travels to the other side of the world for their career, only to find themselves in the process. But the first trailer for the latter promises something a bit different: Overlooking the terrible ’90s voice over, the new film from Tom Hanks and Cloud Atlas co-director Tom Tykwer appears to offer a rather idiosyncratic take on middle-age self-discovery with quirky visuals and a little fourth-wall-breaking.
‘Baywatch’ Photo Reunites Dwayne Johnson and Alexandra Daddario
Alexandra Daddario was the first female actor to join Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron’s R-rated Baywatch shenanigans, but she’s been curiously absent from Johnson’s growing collection of set photos on Instagram. Don’t worry, San Andreas fans (all four of you), Daddario has officially suited up and reunited with her co-star for the upcoming film based on the classic ’90s series.
‘I Am Wrath’ Trailer: John Travolta and His Hair Want Revenge
Thanks to his role on American Crime Story: The People v O.J. Simpson, John Travolta is kind of winning audiences back following a run of lackluster action flicks. I Am Wrath could still very well be another one of those lesser Travolta outings, and the first trailer teases a revenge thriller in the vein of Eye for an Eye with the actor in the Sally Field role. Oh, and his hair is just as bewildering as ever, really giving Nicolas Cage a run for his money.
‘Batman vs. Superman’ Almost Had a Role for Former Batman Christian Bale
It’s only been four years since Christopher Nolan concluded his Dark Knight trilogy, so when Zack Snyder announce Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, there were some understandable rumors that Christian Bale might be reprising his superhero role. Since Snyder’s film effectively reboots Batman, Bale reprising his role as the caped crusader was never really plausible — but the director did consider giving Bale a different role in the film.
